HPC Scheduler

In a nutshell, the job scheduler is a software package which matches user jobs with available resources. It ensures that resources such as CPUs or computer memory are not over subscribed, and don't become over-loaded while sending jobs to appropriate hardware e.g. a job requiring 200GB of ram should not be sent to a compute node with 196GB of ram or a job with 18 parallel threads should not be sent to a compute node with only 16 CPU cores.

Open Grid Engine

Rosalind uses open grid scheduler for job scheduling.
