Acknowledging use of the system¶
Where communicated output from research or teaching such as academic publications, conference papers, etc., is derived from use of resources on Rosalind, users must acknowledge Rosalind in their output.
Measurable impact of Rosalind is an important metric for funders and critical for sustainability of the service.
Authors should include one of the following texts in publications:
BRC-supported statement of acknowledgement
The authors acknowledge use of the research computing facility at King’s College London, Rosalind (https://rosalind.kcl.ac.uk), which is delivered in partnership with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centres at South London & Maudsley and Guy’s & St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trusts, and part-funded by capital equipment grants from the Maudsley Charity (award 980) and Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Charity (TR130505). The views expressed are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the NHS, the NIHR, King’s College London, or the Department of Health and Social Care.
Non-BRC–supported statement of acknowledgement
The authors acknowledge use of the research computing facility at King’s College London, Rosalind (https://rosalind.kcl.ac.uk).
The statement may be placed in either the acknowledgement or funding section of a publication. It can also be placed in supporting information provided there is a linking statement in the main publication. It is not sufficient to place only in author’s affiliations.
When to acknowledge¶
The contracts that the NHS Trusts hold for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) awards (2017-22) oblige acknowledgement of the NIHR’s support to the BRCs where it is relevant. The inclusion of the NIHR acknowledgement as per the contract is an NIHR performance metric against which the BRCs are monitored. It is, therefore, vital that any relevant use of the system is acknowledged on any publications.
Who to acknowledge¶
Rosalind is a heterogenous infrastructure platform, with specific portions of the hardware funded through either the Maudsley BRC and Guy’s and St Thomas’ BRC, or the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (NMS) at King’s College London.
Researchers supported either directly or indirectly by the BRCs must acknowledge that support in their research outputs.
Indirect support includes the use of equipment, facilities, or staff time funded by the BRC(s).
For researchers not funded by the BRCs and who make use solely of NMS-funded or other non-BRC–funded hardware, it is not mandatory to acknowledge the BRCs, specifically, for support — see above for statements covering either situation.
