Rosalind: Research Computing Infrastructure¶
Notice
This documentation covers the updated Rosalind infrastructure launched November 2019. Migrations of users from the legacy Rosalind infrastructure will progress through Q4 2019 to Q1 2020. The documentation for the legacy cluster and OpenStack is available here.
About Rosalind¶
Rosalind is a collection of research computing infrastructure hosted by King’s College London.
It is named after Rosalind Franklin, a chemist and X-ray crystallographer whose pioneering work elucidating the structure of DNA was performed whilst a research associate at King’s College London.
Rosalind is a collaborative venture made possible by the pooled contributions of hardware, staff, and running costs. The founding Partners have provided their research computing resources and expertise to build a comprehensive platform for research at King’s College London and across the King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre network, including:
- A High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, with fast network interconnects and shared storage, for large scale simulations and data analytics;
- A private cloud platform to provide flexible, scalable development environments and allow users greater control over their own research IT resources using virtual machines;
- A very large, highly resilient storage area for longer term curation of research data.
